Sophronitis Cernua, often called the "Nodding Sophronitis," is a miniature-sized epiphytic orchid species native to Brazil and surrounding areas. This charming plant is highly valued for its clusters of vibrant, star-shaped flowers that appear in spring. The blooms are a brilliant orange-red, often with a subtle yellow highlight on the lip, and have a beautiful, almost luminous quality. A warm-growing and relatively easy-to-cultivate species, it is frequently mounted on cork or tree fern to allow its compact, creeping habit and nodding flowers to be best appreciated.
