Cattleya Maxima orchid is a species. It is also known as The Greatest Cattleya, Christmas Flower, Cattleya malouana or Epidendrum maximum. It is a medium-sized, cool-to-warm-growing, and it is one of the few species of the large-flowered cattleyas that is easy to identify from its color. Cattleya maxima has a characteristic yellow stripe down the centre of the lip in all colour forms, including the albas. The bright yellow stripe is quite striking against the dark purple flowers of the short-pseudobulb type.
