Cattleya Purpurata (also listed as Laelia purpurata) grows on wooded hillsides in Santa Catarina, southern Brazil, and opens three to seven long-lasting, anise-scented flowers of 15 to 25 cm on a 30 to 37 cm spike, from late spring into autumn. In the variety carnea, whose name means flesh-coloured, white to pale lilac petals frame a soft pink lip.
You receive a blooming-size plant in a 12 cm pot of sphagnum moss, sent without flowers, spikes or buds; our photos show the variety in flower. Best for growers with bright light who can let it rest a little drier in winter.
