The plant produces tall, cane-like pseudobulbs and long, arching panicles of yellow to greenish-yellow flowers. What makes this orchid truly striking is the bold, chocolate-brown to maroon spotting that covers the petals and sepals, resembling a leopard's coat. A unique feature of this orchid is its "trash basket" root system—upward-growing aerial roots that catch falling leaves and debris to create its own compost.
