Cymbidium Ensifolium, the sword-leaved Cymbidium, grows in forest and on mossy limestone from Japan and China to south-east Asia, from sea level to 1,500 m. In summer and autumn it sends up a 30 cm stem of three to nine long-lasting flowers about 6.5 cm across with a scent like narcissus; the clone 'Fu-shan Odd Butterfly' is pale yellow-green with pink markings.
You receive a blooming-size plant in a 10 cm pot of sphagnum moss, sent without flowers, spikes or buds; our photos show the clone in flower. Best for growers who want a fragrant, small-flowered Cymbidium that copes with a wide temperature range. Think twice if you expect the large flowers of modern hybrid Cymbidiums.
