A primary hybrid registered in 1973, Phalaenopsis Joey crosses the giant Bornean Phalaenopsis gigantea with Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana of the Philippines. Gigantea, a large lowland species of Sabah and Sarawak, gives it heavy, waxy flowers with a sweet scent, and our photos show them white, densely spotted with magenta-red. Best for warm, humid homes and growers who like classic crosses of two species. Think twice if you have little room, as gigantea passes on broad leaves.
