'Siam Surprise' is the selected clone of Rhyncholaeliocattleya Fantasy Star, and our photos show why: yellow petals flushed red, set off by a deep wine-red lip. The grex was registered by S. Noisuwan in 2009 from Rhyncholaeliocattleya Toshie Aoki and Cattleya Brazilian Treasure, and almost 40% of its ancestry is Cattleya dowiana, the golden species behind many yellow Cattleyas. Best for growers with bright light and warm days who want a showy Cattleya. Think twice if your plants get no direct sun at any time of day.
